Dragonfly

You will notice the Dragonfly features heavily in my designs. They are incredible insects and I didn't realise just how incredible till I got up close and personal with my camera and then drew every last vein in its wings. The patterning on its body was also incredible both in terms of colour and shape. This one had a kind of skull that emerged as I was drawing it. This took about 2 days of concentrated pen drawing. I used a selection of pens. The Micron 0.05 nib, Artline 0.1 nib and for the veins, Rotring rapidograph 0.30 All water resist. Some 'dot' better, some 'line better and some 'stroke' better. It's a question of trial and error. But most of all patience!
